Thank you ladies and gentlemen; today we are debating the resolution:learning oral English is more important than learning written English.We,on the negative team,strongly oppose this resolution.We have four reasons:precise,spread knowledge,examination,and premise.
Our first point is precise/pri’sais/; we believe that written English can foster our thinking ability,and make our thoughts more precise.
Our second point is spread knowledge,you know written can be used to memories our own history,and let foreigners to know our Chinese traditional culture and classical character just like Confucius.What’s more,it can also help us to learn the advanced knowledge or technology from developed country.
Our third point is examination,we believe that all of us have studied written English from we studied English till now,if we want to have good achievement ,we must have high marks in the written English examination,if written English is not important,please tell me why our country still insist on it?
Our forth point is premise/’premis/,written English is the foundation of oral English.The written English cares more about the grammar,which is the basic part in English learning.If you don’t have good foundation,how to speak out a sentence,that is why there are so many Chinese illiteracy make so many mistakes about a simple Chinese sentence.
In conclusion,we have talked about precise,spread knowledge,examination,and premise,and have shown that written English is more important than oral English.We must oppose.
