我的原文是：Mr.James Scott has a garage in Silbury and now he has just bought another garage in Pinhurst.应该是用another 后面31页习题答案也是another 可能你的时旧版本有的错误没有改出来
另外other +可数名词复数=others 或者other +不可数名词
another=one more ;another two =two more
是不是楼主搞错了呢 ,你再确认一下答案?

一个 garage 另一个 garage
如果是三个或者以上
one , the/one's other n 后面要跟复数名词
用排除法做吧还是
这就相当于one ----the other 一个 另一个
例:one apple the other apple
只不过现在是a garage ----- his other garage
others=other +n(复数)
泛指另一个用another, 三者以上就用。
the other两者中的另一个， 有了his就不用the了。
而题意是：Mr.Scott 有一个车库在Silbury，令一个在Pinhurst.
显然是指两者中的一个，所以选 other。
other指的是另外的，并没有说一定要复数
而且A的话表示他只有两个，而题中未说明，所以错
CD的话根本读不通
选A,若是表明他有两个车库的话，要用the other ,若是没有表明，就用another!
A项的another因为本身有an，所以不和his等屋主代词相连，
B项的other 可以和单数或者复数名词相连，如：my other hand我的另一只手，my other friends我的其他的朋友。
.the other指两个人或物中的一个时，只能用the other，不能用another，此时的other作代词。
another既可作形容词，也可作代词，只能用于三个或更多的人或物，泛指同类事物中的三者或三者以上的“另一个”，只能代替或修饰单数可数名词。
other意思是是其他的 ，另外的。他后面跟复数名词，也可以跟不可数名词啊
