我记得如果只有两个词并列的话,中间一定要加and的.

多个词平行的话,最后两个要加连词,否则句子会比较零碎.但这只是出于对句子的润色,对语法没任何影响.
这里不加and是因为：
1,由于人们读东西都有一个习惯,就是开头和结尾,符号的两边会读得比较仔细,中间部分省略,所以如果此处用and,那么读者就有可能掠过了superficial这个词,但作者认为superficial这个词比outward更深入表达意思,所以就特意不用and,而用逗号隔开,让读者注意.
2,这是一个很长的句子,如果用and的话,那么就要到music后面才停顿,这样会使整个句子很冗繁,而且头重脚轻.
